Lee Mobéro
Lee Mobéro is a 27-year-old self-taught visual artist based in Amsterdam, creating expressive paintings and clay sculptures. In her work, she explores identity, representation, and everyday joy through vibrant, story-driven portraits and sculptures. Having grown up without seeing Black people represented in the art and media around her, Lee is drawn to portraying them in her work as a way of reclaiming space and honoring beauty, culture, and joy.
Lee works intuitively, letting color, texture, and emotion guide her process. Influenced by music, film, nature, and the richness of Black culture and subcultures, she creates emotionally resonant works that center presence and celebrate black identity without being solely defined by it. Her signature use of bold color and expressive faces gives her pieces a sense of warmth and emotional depth. While representation plays an important role in her work, Lee’s art is equally about joy, softness, and everyday beauty. She continues to shape a visual language that is playful, bold, and deeply personal. Offering a space to feel seen, to celebrate, and to belong.
