Jacopo Grilli

Jacopo Grilli is an urbanist and multidisciplinary artist based in Amsterdam. He explores contemporary spatial issues through a visual language, mediating, stimulating, and reflecting on design processes at the intersection of art and urbanism.

With his practice, Jacopo contributes to exhibitions, design, and philosophical processes, alongside his roles as an independent urban designer, artist/performer, and teacher/collaborator at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam. His work follows a specific visual research into the representation and expression of ideas, a bridge between fine art and urban thinking and design, made possible through research assignments, art residencies, and independent work as a visual artist and urbanist.

His recent residencies include Sensitive City (2024), with ARCAM, exploring how the senses perceive the ever-changing urban environment through phenomenology, art, and design; and Landscapes/Soundscapes (2025), with AHK, a multidisciplinary project linking urbanism and music via textures and patterns.

His practice continues to evolve through collaboration, critical inquiry, and site-specific research, developing imagination as a fuel for artistic exploration and urban phenomenology.
