Fleur Moerenhout
Fleur Moerenhout (1999) seeks reconnection in all her work—reconnection with each other, with our environment, and with ourselves. She considers this essential, based on the belief that contemporary issues like the climate crisis and the rise in mental health problems are deeply intertwined and stem from a growing sense of alienation in society.
Today's world is driven by a glorification of consumption and production, an overwhelming flow of new information, and an endless pursuit of linear economic growth. We are constantly in motion to keep up. Yet, when always in a hurry, it becomes difficult to truly connect.
That’s why Fleur consciously aims to slow down in her work. She believes that by slowing down, we can create space again for genuine connection. With a background in a Bachelor of Fine Arts and an Associate Degree in Arts & Crafts (Lifestyle Design), she expresses this philosophy through a diverse range of creations. Certain elements consistently return: manual techniques, detailed craftsmanship, and symbolic visual language.
Fleur also works with natural pigments and recycled textiles, choosing materials that foster a closer relationship with her surroundings and nature. These methods become tools—for both maker and viewer—to invite pause, reflection, and reconnection.
